LAKEPORT — The next Lake County broadband planning meeting is set for Wednesday afternoon at the Lake County Courthouse.
The discussion is part of a continued effort to enhance Internet access in the county by helping to develop a Lake County Broadband Plan.
The California State University, Chico Center for Economic Development (CED) and the Corporation for Education Network Initiative in California (CENIC) are attempting to assist counties in the Upstate California Connect Consortium (Lake, Sonoma, Colusa and Glenn) create broadband plans.
The idea is to then connect the individual county plans into a regional plan, which would provide the basis necessary to access grant funding for regional broadband projects.
Lake County citizens can become involved in three ways: taking an online survey at www.lakecountybroadband.org, joining the Lake County Broadband Alliance and attending local broadband planning meetings.
The Wednesday session will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, on the first floor of the courthouse at 255 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport.
