CLEARLAKE — Highlands Senior Service Center (HSSC) is participating again this year in the Feinstein Foundation”s $1 Million Giveaway to Fight Hunger.

For the 15th year in a row, Alan Shawn Feinstein and the Feinstein Foundation are challenging communities to help fight hunger by offering a match of up to $1 million to be donated to anti-hunger agencies nationwide based on the amount of donations and pledges raised during March and April. This means that the more donations that HSSC receives by April 30, the more of the Feinstein challenge money it will get. These donations can include cash, checks, food items or pledges as long as they are made during the Feinstein Challenge. All donations are tax deductible.

Seventy-three percent of HSSC”s funding comes from donations from people and businesses in the community. These donations make it possible for seniors to receive nutritiously balanced meals; provides a place for them to socialize, receive information and participate in exercise and informational programs; and provides home-delivered meals to the most fragile of our senior citizens.

HSSC intervenes in situations that threaten the welfare and independence of its increasing number of seniors.

Tax-deductible donations can be made to the Highlands Senior Service Center, P.O. Box 180, Clearlake, CA 95422. For more information, call 994-3051 or stop by HSSC at 3045 Bowers Road in Clearlake.
