While driving southbound on Main Street in Lakeport this past Saturday afternoon, I drove past the remains of two ducks that had obviously been struck by cars, both within about three blocks of each other.
How is it that driving 25 miles per hour down Main Street we are not able to slow down enough to let the bird get out of the way?
How is it that we cannot take an extra minute or two to stop our vehicles to let the bird cross the road?
How is it that we are so preoccupied and consumed with ourselves that we don”t notice that there is a living, breathing creature in the path of our vehicle?
Aside from emergency personnel responding to a life-threatening situation, the rest of us have no excuse.
Come on people, wake up and show some heart.
