LAKE COUNTY — The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a number of minor earthquakes in the southern portion of Lake County throughout the past few days. According to the USGS Volcano Hazards Program, the largest of three earthquakes recorded had a magnitude of 3.8 at 11:17 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday”s quake produced light shaking in the town of Clearlake and its vicinity. The event originated in the southeast arm of Clear Lake.

According to the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program, a 3.5 quake struck at 1:28 a.m. Sunday about a mile northeast of The Geysers. It had a recorded depth of 0.9 miles. Another rumble hit at 6:17 a.m. Sunday, which the USGS recorded with a magnitude of 3.2. That event occurred about three miles west of Clearlake and about 2.4 miles below the surface.
