LOWER LAKE — Lower Lake made it interesting with two runs in the bottom of the seventh but still lost 4-3 to Fort Bragg in the North Central League I varsity baseball opener for both teams Friday in Lower Lake.

Fort Bragg (1-0) scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the seventh to open up a 4-1 lead.

Losing pitcher Zef Roofener went 2-for-4 for the Trojans and Aron James went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in the seventh.. Luis Martinez also had two hits for Lower Lake.

Winning pitcher Tony Hernandez went the distance, striking out 12. He also went 1-for-1 with two RBI. Roofener worked the first five innings for Lower Lake, striking out five and walking seven.

Lower Lake (0-1 league, 5-2 overall) returns to action today in St. Helena against the Saints (1-0) at 4 p.m.
