COBB — Windy and cold conditions greeted Kelseyville and Mercy High (Red Bluff) golfers competing in a non-conference match Thursday at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.

“It was 45 degrees when we teed off and 39 when we finished … and it started to rain after the match was over,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of the early April weather. “The wind always seemed to be in your face.”

Kelseyville prevailed 346-412 behind a round of 81 from Wyatt Ferrell and an 82 from teammate Joe Tannous. Steven Rodriguez had the low round of the day, a 77 on the par-68 Adams Springs course.

Ferrell and Tannous each had a birdie during the day”s round.

Berry and Mercy coach Jim Wilson have played in several tournaments together down through the years. Wilson is also a former Nevada State Amateur champ.

Kelseyville returns to action Monday afternoon in the Ukiah Invitational at Ukiah Municipal.
