UKIAH — Doctor”s Day was the perfect occasion to honor Dr. Herschel W. Gordon for his gift to the new Ukiah Valley Medical Center emergency department and intensive care unit.

Gordon was named UVMC”s Most Valuable Philanthropy Physician of the Year at the March 30 celebration, dubbed “March Madness” by the hospital”s administrative team.

All-star honors went to Pacific Redwood Medical Group, Ukiah Valley Primary Care Medical Group and the UVMC radiologists for their leadership gifts to the hospital”s expansion project. Doctors Charlie Evans, Dale Morrison and Donald Coursey were selected for their willingness to be leaders in the project.

Gwen Matthews, CEO of UVMC, said, “It”s refreshing to see the spirit of philanthropy in Dr. Gordon and our physician groups. Through their generous contributions UVMC will be able to provide state-of-the-art healing in the new emergency department/trauma center and intensive care unit for generations to come.”
