LAKEPORT — The Lake Transit Authority is applying for a grant for commuter-oriented services. The Lake Transit Authority meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday in City Council Chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
Transit Manager Mark Wall”s report addresses grant applications submitted on behalf of Lake Transit Authority (LTA) as planned during the last month.
The Jobs Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) grant would provide 100 percent funding for up to three years for access to jobs, job training and community college.
According to Wall”s report, the JARC Services Expansion Project would extend service hours in Clearlake, Lakeport, Kelseyville and along the Highway 20 corridor. Routes and services to be affected include routes 5 and 6, Clearlake North and South, Clearlake/Lower Lake Paratransit, Route 8 in Lakeport, Lakeport Paratransit and Route 1 along the Highway 20 corridor. The grant would also finance creation of a new Route 56 Express to serve major employment and education centers in the City of Clearlake.
An implementation timeline anticipates notification of the award in December. Implementation of schedule changes could take effect by April 2013.
The LTA will also consider authorizing Wall to negotiate with Yuba College regarding an on-campus bus stop at the Clear Lake Campus.
