LOWER LAKE — Girls in grades six to 10 are invited to come explore non-traditional careers for women, April 28 at Lower Lake High School.
Students will attend four workshops led by Lake County women in a variety of industries. All workshops will include a hands-on activity.
Lunch and light snacks will be provided as well as a variety of raffle prizes including gift cards and an iPod.
Keynote speaker will be Venus Opal Reese from the Street to Stanford program. Presenters will be Jacqueline Snyder, attorney at law; engineer Denise Rushing of Tactical Partners, financial advisor Jennifer Strong of Strong Financial Group, Kim Sone with Calfire, basketball coach Jody Steliga of Mendocino College, journalist Mandy Feder with Lake County Publishing, chef Julie Hoskins with Chic Le Chef, robotics: Tova Fry with the Society of Women Engineers, firefighter Stephanie Cardwell with Calfire, law enforcement: Wendy Parsons with the Lake County Probation Department, Taylor Observatory/Planetarium coordinator Barbara McIntyre and Sherry Falge, Pacific Gas and Electric line crew.
