CLOVERDALE — Josiah Amos was efficient and effective while pitching the Middletown Mustangs to a 13-2 win over the Cloverdale Eagles in North Central League I junior varsity baseball action Friday.
Amos tossed a three-hitter, struck out seven and walked three, all in just 91 pitches, as the Mustangs improved to 2-1 in the league standings and 4-5 overall.
Middletown trailed most of the game, scoring twice in the fifth to pull into a 2-2 tie. The Mustangs then broke the game open with an eight-run sixth, moving out to a 10-2 lead. They added three insurance runs in the seventh.
Chris Montoya went 3-for-4 with a RBI for Middletown, Tyler Holt went 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Amos went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Middletown hosts Clear Lake in a league game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
