CLEARLAKE — Two men and a boy were arrested April 9 following multiple reports of shots fired in the area of 35th and Wilkinson avenues in the Chapman Tract of Clearlake. Bail enhancements were obtained on the two men.
According to Clearlake Police Department (CPD) Sgt. Rodd Joseph, at about 9:30 p.m. when officers were dispatched to an area following reports of shots fired, they located a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on 35th Avenue near Parker Avenue. The vehicle, which was warm to the touch when it was located by officers, was unoccupied and later towed.
Just before 11 p.m. officers responded to the 16400 block of 35th Avenue for additional gunshots heard. Officers located Leopoaldo Bravo, 18, Andres Alejandro Valencia, 23, and a 17-year-old boy in the area of 32nd and Konocti avenues. Valencia was allegedly was carrying a loaded, concealed pistol in his pocket. All three were detained.
Joseph said the boy was found to be possession of ammunition and parts of a gun.
“Officers checked the area and two additional handguns were found in the field adjacent to the area where the suspects were contacted,” Joseph said. Andres was alleged in the process of purchasing the firearm(s) and allegedly admitted to firing the guns.
Bravo was charged with firearm violations related to convicted person in possession of such, prohibited person owning ammunition, willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner, participation in a criminal street gang and violation of probation. Valencia was charged similarly with additional charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and altering the serial numbers on a gun. A bail enhancement of $250,000 was obtained on Bravo and a $150,000 bail enhancement was obtained on Valencia, through Judge Stephen Hedstrom.
The boy was charged with possession of a firearm with altered serial numbers and for carrying a concealed weapon.
