LAKEPORT — The Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Tuesday adopted and presented three proclamations.

The first proclamation designated April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington presented the proclamation to Joan Reynolds from the Lake County Children”s Council. Reynolds was joined by members of other county organizations that aim to prevent child abuse.

“It takes us all working together to prevent child abuse,” Reynolds said.

District 2 Supervisor Jeff Smith presented a proclamation to Dennis and Ruth Darling, owners of the Foods Etc.-IGA Supermarket in Clearlake. The Darlings were awarded the IGA Retailer of the Year award and the proclamation congratulated them for their achievement.

District 1 Supervisor Jim Comstock presented a proclamation designating April as Alcohol Awareness Month to Jim Gessner, a treatment and prevention coordinator for Alcohol and Other Drug Services, and Kristy Kelly, director of the Mental Health Department.

Gessner said people need to be aware of alcohol and its effects.

“There is hope of recovery,” he said.
