UPPER LAKE — Travis Floyd scored from third base on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Upper Lake Cougars to a 3-2 North Central League II varsity baseball win over the Rincon Valley Christian Eagles on Tuesday in Upper Lake.
Floyd, who also scored the tying run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 2-2, singled with two outs in the seventh, stole second and third, and raced home when a full-count pitch to batter Jeremiah Swaney squirted away from the catcher.
“We were really being aggressive … and he”s really fast,” Upper Lake coach Martin Wade said of Floyd, who went 2-for-3 in the game.
Upper Lake (2-1 league, 2-4 overall) also received a strong game from winning pitcher Stoney Timmons, who tossed a three-hitter and struck out 10.
“He had an excellent game,” Wade said of Timmons, who also went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a RBI single in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1.
Swaney went 2-for-3 for the Cougars.
