LOWER LAKE — A man who was allegedly driving the vehicle that crashed Sunday morning killing Jennifer Clark, 31, of Clearlake was released from the hospital Thursday and transported to Lake County Jail.

Danny Fields, II, 27, of Clearlake was booked for charges of vehicular manslaughter, felony driving under the influence, felony hit and run resulting in injury or death and driving on a suspended license. His bail was set at $210,000.

According to the California Highway Patrol, sometime between 5 and 7 a.m. Fields was driving a 1984 Chevy El Camino southbound on Highway 29 just north of Highway 53 at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to exit the right side of the roadway where it went down an embankment and struck a walnut tree.

Fields allegedly walked away from the crash site back to Highway 29 where claimed to receive a ride from an unknown person. He was taken to Tower Mart in Lower Lake. According to the CHP, Fields” parents were contact and responded to Tower Mart and they transported him to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake.

Around 8:55 a.m. hospital staff contacted the CHP advising that the suspect was there and had been involved in a traffic incident. The CHP said that Fields could not give an exact location where the incident occurred or if there was anyone else in the vehicle with him when it happened.

The vehicle was located at approximately 9:14 a.m. by Lake County Sheriff”s Office personnel. Clark was found in the right front seat of the vehicle. She had sustained fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.
