LAKEPORT — A judge Monday granted a prosecution request to postpone the preliminary hearing of a Nice man charged with killing a woman in Lucerne last year.
Daniel Ray Loyd faces one count of murder and five other felonies for allegedly shooting to death Lake County resident Cindy Yvette Quiett, 48, during a robbery attempt early in the morning on Sept. 13.
Loyd, 50, has pleaded not guilty to the felony charges.
The case had been set for preliminary examination in early May, but the prosecution filed a continuance motion last week, according to court records.
Prosecutor John DeChaine said Monday that more time was needed to collect and turn over pieces of discovery to the defense.
The parties appeared at the Lake County Courthouse Monday morning for a judge”s ruling on the motion.
Judge Andrew S. Blum found good cause to continue the preliminary hearing and rescheduled it for Aug. 15.
Loyd remains in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
