Once again, kudos to Guthrie “Guff” Worth for his union thoughts on April 17. One paragraph about a loss of fairness regarding our federal Congress is especially apropos.

Being elected to public office as originally set forth was never meant to be a lifetime career.

It was considered an honor to represent one”s district but after serving the elected term, you stepped aside for the next electee. We have restricted the presidential tenure to two terms and perhaps the time has come to do the same for members of Congress.

Often, they began campaigning for an upcoming term as soon as they reach office and act accordingly while considering matters of vital importance to our nation.

Also, our representatives should be held accountable for their roll call. An employee at any job is expected to show up often enough to earn their wage and would not last long if attendance was lax. Should our elected representatives do less, or leave a desk loaded with assignments when adjourning for a holiday?
