LAKEPORT — Seven Lakeport Main Street Association (LMSA) volunteers recently received special recognition in appreciation of their contributions to LMSA and to the community.
Barbara Ross received LMSA”s Volunteer of the Year award for her work on Taste of Lakeport in 2011 and 2012, for her service on the Main Street organization committee and for her contribution to the Very Merry Main Street event and the 2012 Concerts in the Park sponsorship.
Six additional volunteers received the Extra Mile Award. They were:
* Robert Clifton — for repeatedly and doggedly solving last year”s watering problems on the downtown flower baskets and for service on the Main Street organization committee.
* Terri Persons — for service on the Main Street design committee and for her leadership on the Historic Walking Guide project, plus her work on forming the request for proposals for this summer”s flower baskets.
* Alan Mathews — for his work on the Main Street promotion committee, for taking on the chairmanship of the this year”s Childrens” Pet Parade and for putting together the Main Street coop ad program for the 2012 Summer Concerts in the Park series.
* Suzanne Lyons — for coming up with idea of gift bag of Lakeport goodies and discount coupons for the League of California Cities conference, for her creative promotional ideas on the Library Park bathroom re-opening and for her contributions to the promotion committee.
* Lyle Coburn — for his help the past several years with the downtown Trick or Treat event, especially for organizing the costume contest, and for his assistance on last year”s Children”s Pet Parade.
* Toni Vaars — for her service on the organization committee, assistance with the lamp post flower basket project and many years of help on the Fourth of July arts and crafts fair.
