NICE — A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries following a rear-end collision with a car on Highway 20 Monday evening.
Dennis Peterson, 19, of Chico was riding his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound along Highway 20 near Keeling Avenue at around 7:20 p.m., according to Officer Kory Reynolds of the California Highway Patrol. James Eubanks, 22, of Nice was driving his 1994 Honda Civic directly in front of Peterson. Reynolds said both men were traveling at speeds of approximately 45 mph.
Reynolds said Eubanks stopped his car to avoid hitting a dog on the highway. Peterson reportedly swerved, clipped the rear left side of the car and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Reynolds said Peterson complained of pain but was not transported to a hospital. Peterson was issued a citation for not possessing a motorcycle license, Reynolds added.
Drugs and alcohol were not considered a factor in the collision, which is still under investigation.
