Who would want to be sheriff of Lake County?
Every day I read in the newspaper about another smear tactic against Sheriff Rivero. Why don”t they let the man do his job? Before the election, everyone was upset about the previous administration and what went on in the sheriff”s department. We now have a man trying to do his job and it seems like every time Rivero is involved in any type of arrest or critical law enforcement decision he is criticized by the Board of Supervisors, the District Attorney”s office or an article in the Record-Bee.
Our sheriff”s department might not be perfect but it”s all we have. The deputies, administrators and the sheriff himself need to be left alone to do their job. If the sheriff needs an attorney to help defend him for actions done while on the job then lets give him the necessary help he needs. Decisions made to protect the citizens of Lake County should be first and foremost with all law enforcement people. Let”s quit complaining about the department and the sheriff and give him some solid support. We need to be respectful of our law enforcement people and the administrators and the sheriff himself who are trying to protect the citizens of Lake County. If the people of Lake County are unhappy with the way things are going there is one way to remedy this; remember elections are there to take care of unhappy elected officials.
Remember the previous regime? How much has this cost the county? We were never advised of what happened with the lawsuit against the county for the debacle over the boating accident. Just a note, how much did this really cost the county to settle with the person who was accused and found not quality? Support our sheriff and let him do his job.
