LOWER LAKE — Isabelle Azbill came to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning and promptly cleared them Friday afternoon as the Lower Lake Trojans spotted St. Helena a 3-0 lead only to rally for an 8-5 victory in North Central League I softball action at Lower Lake.
St. Helena (1-6) had just scored three times in the top of the second to go up 3-0. Azbill”s bases-loaded double in the bottom half tied the game at 3 and ignited a seven-run uprising by the Trojans (4-5, 11-7).
“Our bats came alive, the girls wanted it,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said of a victory that snaps a four-game losing streak. “We definitely competed today.”
Savannah Koch went 3-for-4 and also drove in a run in the second inning.
“Koch hit the ball well today,” Emberson said.
Winning pitcher Shelbie Harris allowed six hits, struck out two and walked four.
