MIDDLETOWN — Middletown High School”s junior varsity softball players sent their coach, Erin Menzio, a get-well card of sorts on Friday during a North Central League I game at Middletown.

With Menzio at home battling a 103-degree fever, the former Clear Lake High standout pitcher (Erin Gat-ton in those days) received a bit of a pick-me-up in the form of a 5-2 Middletown victory.

Winning pitcher Allegra Macedo tossed a four-hitter while striking out five. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Heather Huston sparked the Middle-town offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Alisha Bell went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Middletown is 6-2 on the season.
