LAKEPORT — Jay Wright of Seal Beach weighed in a five-bass limit totaling 26 pounds, 11 ounces on Saturday to win the FLW Clear Lake Pro-Am bass tournament with a three-day total of 74-5.
Wright earned $26,155 for his victory, his first major win. He said he cast swimbaits on the final day of the tournament to bring in a five-fish limit. Jimmy Reese of Witter Springs, the tournament leader after each of the first two rounds, slipped to fifth place after weighing in only 17-13 on Saturday. He won $5,978.
Local bass pro Wayne Breazeale of Kelseyville captured second place with 73-3, winning $8,967, while Lakeport angler Mark Crutcher finished third at 72-10 to take home $7,437.
Yet another Lake County fisherman, Paul Bailey of Kelseyville, finished fourth with 70-13. He pocketed $6,726.
In the co-angler or amateur division, 17-year-old Travis Bounds of Roseville took the title with 61-7. He won a fully-rigged Ranger bass boat valued at $25,000.
Second place went to Jack Farage of Discovery Bay with 57-14. He won $3,591.
Rounding out the top five places in the amateur division were Mike Rychard of Anderson, third with 57-4 ($3,192); Gary Morris of Tracy, fourth with 56-11 ($2,793); and Carl Limbrick Jr. of Bonita, fifth with 53-4 ($2,394).
