SANTA ROSA — St. Vincent wrapped up the Coastal Mountain Conference South golf championship with a victory in the final match of the regular season Wednesday at Oakmont West in Santa Rosa.
St. Vincent advances to the North Coast Section Championships Monday at Tilden Park in Berkeley along with at-large golfers Kasey Cazet of Rincon Valley Christian, Corey Huber of Kelseyville and Daniel Eagle of Middletown. Middletown, the runner-up to St. Vincent in the South standings, has also applied for a team at-large berth and will learn later this week if the bid is successful.
St. Vincent finished at 331 on Tuesday on the par-72 Oakmont West course. Middletown was next at 341, Kelseyville came in third at 361 and St. Helena was a shot back at 362. Rincon Valley Christian was incomplete.
Kelseyville”s Huber and Rincon Valley”s Cazet tied for the day”s low round at 2-over-par 74. St. Vincent”s Evan Knight and Joey Wertz tied at 77 and Middletown”s Anthony Tacla finished with 80.
Huber had four birdies during his round.
“It was a nice group of kids,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of senior veterans Huber and Wyatt Ferrell along with a host of rookie golfers. “It was our first losing season since 1993. Even so, it was another nice year for me coaching golf.”
The All-CMC South team also was selected on Tuesday. Results will be released in an upcoming edition of the Record-Bee.
