UPPER LAKE — Stoney Timmons went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI on Wednesday as the Upper Lake Cougars pummeled the Sonoma Academy Coyotes 16-5 in a North Central League II varsity baseball game at Upper Lake.
All five of Upper Lake”s win have come in league play in coach Martin Wade”s first season as head coach. Upper Lake is 5-1 in the NCL II standings and 5-5 overall.
“We weren”t hitting the ball earlier in the season, but now we”re getting timely hits throughout the lineup,” Wade said of Upper Lake”s 16 hits.
Besides Timmons, Gage DeHeer went 3-for-3 and Jared Wade went 3-for-4. Jeremiah Swaney also had a productive day at the plate with two hits, including a double, and three RBI.
Winning pitcher Bruce Tucker went the distance in the five-inning game, allowing just three hits, striking out four and walking two. He allowed only one earned run.
“He looked pretty sharp all the way through,” Wade said.
Upper Lake hosts Archbishop Hanna in a doubleheader Friday beginning at 2 p.m.
