COBB — Sheriff”s officials arrested a Cobb man Friday in connection with the death of his girlfriend, according to a department spokesman.
The woman”s identity was not released in the statement issued Saturday by Capt. Chris Macedo of the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO).
James Michael Carpy, 44, was charged with murder and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
The felony counts stemmed from a suspicious death at a home on Hogan Hill Lane in Cobb reported on Friday evening, Macedo stated.
The reporting party was the father of the 33-year-old woman deputies later found dead at the scene, according to Macedo. Responding officers were unable to determine a possible cause of death, he added.
The man told deputies he went to his daughter”s residence to check on her after not hearing from her since the night before, according to Macedo.
“The reporting party contacted his daughter”s boyfriend, who answered the door. The reporting party entered the residence and found his daughter deceased in a rear bedroom,” Macedo stated.
The father then told one of the two people who went to the residence with him to call 9-1-1, Macedo added.
Deputies contacted the boyfriend — later identified as Carpy — inside the home, detained him without incident and took him to the department for questioning, according to Macedo.
The captain stated that after questioning, Carpy was arrested and booked into the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility. His bail was set at $1 million.
The investigation is ongoing and people with information are asked to contact the LCSO at 263-2690.
