CLEAR LAKE RIVIERA — A woman was transported to the hospital Monday morning when the truck she was driving collided with a van on Highway 281 (Soda Bay Road) east of Kit”s Corner.
Amber Erickson, 25, of Kelseyville was traveling eastbound on Highway 281 near Inca Way in a Nissan Frontier pickup truck at approximately 9:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Robert Quammen, 52, of Lucerne was also traveling eastbound on Highway 281 in a Ford van.
Quammen drove through some cardboard box debris in the eastbound lane on the roadway and allegedly pulled the van over to the right shoulder and stopped, according to the CHP.
The van was partially blocking the eastbound lane by approximately four to five feet, according to the CHP. Erickson also drove through the debris and failed to see the van stopped on the side of the road, partially blocking the roadway, according to the CHP.
The truck struck the left rear of the van, according to the CHP.
Erickson was transported to St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake with moderate injuries. Quammen suffered minor injuries in the collision but was not transported to a hospital.
The collision is still under investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
