I concur with the writer of the Tuesday”s Record-Bee letters to the editor about Dr. Vernetta Johnson and the pain clinic at Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Dr. Johnson and her staff have helped hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people in pain. She is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met. It is my understanding that she is opening up her own practice in an office in Lakeport in early July.
My other comment would be that we are so very fortunate to have two hospitals in our small county. Some areas that are considered rural like ours do not have even one hospital. Besides Sutter Lakeside we have St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake that has many fine doctors and nurses and is certainly an asset to Lake County. They are in the process of building a brand new emergency room area to better serve families with emergencies and I understand that they too have a fine doctor who specializes in pain management.
