MIDDLETOWN — Heather White went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI and winning pitcher Emily Wingler doubled and drove in three runs Thursday as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the Middletown Mustangs 13-0 in a five-inning North Central League I softball game at Middletown.

Middletown (2-9 league, 5-15 overall) didn”t hit a ball out of the infield against Wingler, who blanked the Mustangs on two singles – infield hits by Roshell Dunlap and Alana McSween.

“She threw one of her better games of the season,” Clear Lake coach Gary Pickle said.

Clear Lake, now 11-0 in the NCL I standings and 16-2 overall, led 12-0 after two innings.

“They play at a different speed and defensive level,” Middletown coach Bob Cummesky said. “Our kids played hard, they didn”t give up.”

Morgan Psalmonds, Marsha”na Sugimoto and Kelcie Reynolds had two hits apiece for Clear Lake.

Wingler struck out three and walked four.

Renee Edwards pitched the first three innings for Middletown, striking out three and walking four.
