HIT: Measure D got hit hard this week, taking body shots from a variety of opponents. The Lake County Board of Education, Clearlake City Council, Lake County Board of Supervisors and Sierra Club Lake Group were among the groups to announce opposition to the measure.
HIT: The Board of Supervisors adopted a proclamation declaring the current week as Travel and Tourism Week in Lake County.

HIT: President Barack Obama became the first sitting U.S. President to announce his support for same-sex marriage. In an interview Obama said, “I”ve just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.”
HIT: Congressmen Mike Thompson and John Garamendi introduce legislation to make the Berryessa Snow Mountain region a National Conservation Area, which would permanently protect the region.
HIT: A second vacant storefront is filled with art by Lake County artists. Locations now exist in Kelseyville and Lakeport.
HIT: Sherry Harris and Linda Kelly, the organizers of the art in vacant storefronts program, received a Stars award for “Best Idea of the Year.”
HIT: Medical marijuana dispensary Visions of Avatar was ordered to shut down by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
MISS: The order to close Visions of Avatar came more than five months after the BOS rescinded an ordinance that caused dispensaries in unincorporated areas of the county to close within 30 days.
MISS: County veterinarians reveal dogs ingesting marijuana and needing to be treated for it is a common occurrence.
HIT: A group of volunteers leveled dirt at the construction site of the new Middletown library and park on Saturday as part of Mormon Helping Hands” day of service. HIT: Redbud Audubon Society”s annual Heron Festival returns to the south county with a well-attended event Saturday at Redbud Park in Clearlake. The event offered education on the diverse wildlife inhabiting Lake County.
HIT: Second grade students from Burns Valley Elementary School joined the Park Study Club, American Legion Post No. 437 and Lake County Military Honors Team in the dedication of the City of Clearlake”s American Flag at Austin Park Wednesday morning. Christian Motorcycle Association and members of the Clearlake Police Department, Volunteers in Policing and City Hall were also represented.
MISS: City administrators and elected area officials were not in attendance.

To senior Corey Huber of the Kelseyville High School golf team, who qualified for his fourth straight North Coast Section Championship tournament and fired a 6-over-par 76 at Tilden Park in Berkeley. He also earned first-team honors on the All-Coastal Mountain Conference South team again this season.
To senior Savannah Dekeyser of the Clear Lake High School softball team. Despite chipping a tooth and cutting her lip during a collision with Kelseyville”s first baseman, Dekeyser stayed in the game and hit an inside-the-park home run in an 11-1 league victory over the Knights.
To Lower Lake”s Adrina Miller, who blasted a walk-off home run in a league victory over the Willits Wolverines. It was Miller”s third home run of the season, tying her for the county lead.
To Upper Lake”s Jared Wade for throwing a no-hitter in a league baseball win over Archbishop Hanna of Sonoma. Wade struck out 10 and walked none.
To Kelseyville High School senior Dustin Thaxton, the staff ace for the Knights. In his last three outings Thaxton is 2-1, having allowed one earned run in 18 innings with 21 strikeouts and only two walks. One of the wins was against a previously undefeated St. Helena squad.
