LAKEPORT — The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the Lakeport Police Department (LPD) will team up on a training session in June for owners and employees of ABC-licensed businesses.

The Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) program is a free prevention and education training for retail licensees, their employees and applicants.

The Lakeport session will occur June 11 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lakeport City Hall in the Council Chambers.

The curriculum is designed for licensees, managers and employees.

According to the LPD, the training offers businesses a number of benefits, including reducing the risk of liability, possibly reducing insurance premiums and providing insights about how to handle difficult situations.

Space is limited to 50 people. To reserve a spot, contact LPD Officer Destry Henderson at 916 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport or at 263-5491.

The program is part of the ABC”s Minor Decoy/Shoulder Tap Grant Project, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
