I find myself among an amazing number of people, at least one published in Record-Bee, who view Measure D with mixed emotion.
I am very much in favor of legalizing marijuana. While it may have some therapeutic value, the cost to maintain its illegality costs lots of funds that could be better used. Like too many single-issue actions the measure is prejudiced, not well thought out and badly written, does not mesh with present laws and ordinances, and, I think, may have the effect of costing our county funds it doesn”t have when both state and federal agencies challenge the measure.
On the other hand, if it passes, I have a three phase plan: First, to get myself certified as a user and qualify to grow; second, to make “use” of 10 or so acres by planting the maximum and make money; and third, using the same logic as “D” promotes, to get a statement from my wife”s doctor who occasionally prescribes oxycodone for her pain, establishing her as a user and sending to Afghanistan for some special poppy seeds!
