LAKE COUNTY — Law enforcement arrested an Upper Lake man following a pursuit early Friday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol (CHP), Ukiah Area units received a be-on-the-lookout call for a Nissan car reportedly weaving while traveling westbound on Highway 20 near the border of Lake and Mendocino counties, the agency said in a statement Friday.
An officer located the Nissan driving with two flat tires and attempted to conduct a stop, the CHP stated.
When the driver failed to yield, a pursuit ensued for several miles at speeds of 30 to 40 mph, the CHP stated.
The agency”s statement indicated that officers used “legal intervention” to end the chase.
The driver — identified as 53-year-old James Knipe — was taken into custody after law enforcement “utilized an electronic control device” during the arrest, according to the statement.
Knipe was medically cleared at a Ukiah hospital before being booked into the Mendocino County Jail.
