Heroes at home
HIT: California Highway Patrol Officer Josh Dye received an official commendation for his role in a rescue effort during a Dec. 10 house fire in Hidden Valley Lake. Dye and Lake County security and rescue professionals Gabe Lopez, Eric Vineyard, Steve Atkinson and Byran Atkins were also honored by the Red Cross for their heroism in April.
Wheeling and stealing
MISS: Someone stole the full-size tricycle of 73-year-old Lakeport resident Mary Dippolito during the night on Mother”s Day.
HIT: The tricycle was found and returned to Dippolito Wednesday afternoon.
Noise study
HIT: The Lake County Board of Supervisors approves a noise study for an area of the Geysers after Anderson Springs residents voiced complaints.
Tense talks
MISS: The BOS and City of Lakeport officials continue tense discussions regarding providing water to property owners in the South Main Street/Soda Bay Road corridor, just outside the city limits.
Honoring volunteers
HIT: The BOS honored the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 88 of Lake County with a proclamation designating the week of May 19 through 25 as Safe Boating Week, highlighting the flotilla”s volunteer efforts to promote safe boating.
Moving forward
HIT: The Lakeport City Council and staff praised the progress of the recently created Lakeport Economic Development Advisory Committee (LEDAC). Improvements to the city”s website were among the highlighted accomplishments.

HIT: Jacobo Lopez Mejia pleaded no contest Monday to two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection with a fatal rollover crash that killed two men the night of Aug. 18 in Kelseyville.
