LAKE COUNTY — The county”s unemployment rate decreased by more than 1 percent in April, according to preliminary data released by the state”s Employment Development Department.
The April jobless rate for Lake County was listed as 15.6 percent, a 1.3-percent drop compared to revised March figures. One year ago, unemployment was 17.3 percent.
The comparable, not seasonally adjusted, rate for California last month was 10.5 percent.
National unemployment was 8.1 percent in April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Lake County”s ranking remained 43rd out of 58 California counties.
Rates for neighboring counties included Colusa at 22.6 percent, Mendocino at 10.5 percent, Napa at 8.3 percent and Sonoma at 8.6 percent.
Marin County retained its No. 1 ranking, coming in at 6.4 percent. Imperial County had the highest unemployment rate at 26.8 percent.
