LAKE COUNTY — A wildfire Sunday burned two acres near a private road in between Lucerne and Glenhaven.

The fire started at approximately 11:40 a.m. Sunday from the roadway and went up a steep incline, according to Deputy Chief Pat Brown of the Northshore Fire Protection District.

Brown said fire crews had to get above the incline and move down in order to battle the blaze. Northshore fire crews initially took the call before it was handed over to CAL FIRE, he said.

Brown said CAL FIRE sent two engines, a battalion chief and a helicopter with a five-man helitack crew and water bucket for a total of 14 personnel.

The helitack crew used hand tools and water drops from the helicopter to extinguish the blaze, which was contained within an hour, Brown said.

Northshore Fire sent two engines, two water tenders and a battalion chief for a total of nine personnel.
