HIT: The Lake County Quilt Trail entered its third phase after the installation of its 26th quilt Sunday. The quilt, named “Pear Basket,” is on the Rainbow Ag store hay barn and can be viewed from Highway 29.
Sent up the river
HIT: A Lucerne man accused of multiple sexual assaults on a child was sentenced to 24 years in state prison for his crimes.
Stay dry on the lake
MISS: A man was arrested on boating under the influence charges. It took Lake County Sheriff”s deputies nearly five minutes to wake the man while the boat circled.
Fortunate but avoidable
HIT: No injuries were reported following a collision between a car, SUV and big rig towing two trailers on Highway 20 Thursday night that sent the big rig into the lake.
HIT: One of the big rig”s fuel tanks ruptured spilling diesel fuel on the roadway, but the spill was contained and no fuel reached the lake.
MISS: The crash was caused by a driver who tried to pass the big rig but did not see a car approaching in the opposite lane.

HIT: The new automotive learning center was unveiled at Lower Lake High School.
Moving forward on memorials
HIT: Lake County Veterans Memorial of Lower Lake Cemetery District moves forward with a five-member volunteer project committee in place.
Dialogue with nature
HIT: The 10th annual EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk opens to viewers with a reception from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 10 at Middletown County Trailside Park. Artists” work along the center trail allows viewers to have a dialogue with nature. Exhibits will remain up through Oct. 13.
MISS: EcoArts installations are supposed to leave no footprint but a recurring exhibitor from previous installations left a hollowed-out circular indent behind after the exhibits were removed.
Losing a gem
HIT: Longtime Lake County Publishing employee Linda Melendez celebrated her retirement Thursday. We hope she will enjoy all of her adventures and leisure time.
