LAKE COUNTY — A Lucerne man who was arrested by Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) Major Crimes Unit detectives on multiple charges of sexual abuse and child molestation was sentenced to 24 years in state prison last month.

Todd Allen Drawdy, 45, was arrested on Nov. 30 after LCSO detectives obtained evidence that he molested at least one girl for a five-year period starting when she was 10 years old, according to LCSO Sgt. Steve Brooks.

Detectives obtained phone recordings in which Drawdy admitted to some of the allegations while speaking to a member of the victim”s family.

The Lake County District Attorney”s Office declined to handle the case because of a potential conflict, which came about from a meeting between Drawdy and Don Anderson before he was elected as District Attorney.

Anderson said Drawdy discussed a prior case with him in which Drawdy was given probation. Anderson said though he did not represent Drawdy, the interactions still caused a conflict for the office.

The California Attorney General”s Office prosecuted the case and worked with LCSO detectives to locate several more victims, according to Brooks.

The charges against Drawdy carried a potential sentence of 30 years to life in prison. The California Attorney General”s Office and the defense made a plea agreement in April, Brooks said.

On May 21, Drawdy was sentenced to 24 years in prison for three counts of lewd acts with a child with force or fear. An additional year was added to run concurrently for a probation violation because Drawdy was on informal, misdemeanor probation for annoying and molesting a minor in a previous case.
