LAKE COUNTY — Three people suffered major to moderate injuries Saturday following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 29 south of Hofacker Lane.

The collision remains under the investigation of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

According to the CHP, Annette Sykorafinch, 47, of Hidden Valley Lake was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer southbound on Highway 29 just south Hofacker Lane at about 12:20 p.m. Saturday. Matthew Elliott, 39, of Lakeport drove a 2000 Ford F-250 northbound on Highway 29.

For unknown reasons, Sykorafinch lost control of her SUV, which skidded into the northbound lane and overturned directly in the path of Elliot”s truck, the CHP stated. Elliott was unable to avoid the SUV, and the front of the truck struck the top of the Explorer as it overturned.

As a result of the collision, Sykorafinch, Elliott and one of the truck”s four passengers — Shana Smith, 35, of Middletown — were transported via air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major to moderate injuries.

The three other people in Elliott”s truck were transported to St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake by South Lake County Fire Protection District for precautionary reasons.

All occupants wore a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol did not appear to be a factor, the CHP stated.
