LAKEPORT — Mike Sullivan, who has coached rowing at the college level for numerous years, will offer beginning rowing lessons this summer in Lakeport as part of the Clear Lake Scullers summer season.

The lessons held this Saturday are free and take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome, including residents and visitors of all ages. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards will be available to try in addition to the rowing sculls.

People are also welcome to try rowing on the team boat every Saturday at 8 a.m., no experience necessary.

The goal of Clear Lake Scullers is to provide broad access to Clear Lake and to expose people to a wide variety of aquatic sports with emphasis on safety and competence.

Membership is open to the public and there is rowing year round, indoors and out. Rowing, paddling and water-safety classes for adults and students are offered in the summer.

Sullivan is also available to teach the skills necessary for athletes to train and race.

The boat yard is at Main and Sixth streets near the water in Lakeport.

For more information, contact Mike Sullivan at sul@slac.stanford.edu or call 349-9779.
