LAKE COUNTY — A family is displaced and in need of help following a house fire on 22nd Avenue in Clearlake on Sunday.

The source of the fire is alleged to be a fairy figurine that exploded according to Lori Kent who was leasing the home with an option to buy.

She said she purchased the figurine from a business in Clearlake and said she contacted the business and is awaiting a reply regarding other incidents with the decorative ornaments.

Kent said she works two jobs and her husband and one of her children are disabled. The family will check out of the hotel room provided by the Red Cross on Wednesday.

“I guess we”re going to be couch-hopping for awhile,” she said. “The worst part is going back to the house and seeing what happened. It”s very traumatic.”

She said she couldn”t imagine the horror of being in house fire until she and her family experienced it.

An account was set up at Mendo Lake Credit Union to assist the family. Those interested in helping can make donations out to the Kent Family Fire Fund at any branch of the Mendo Lake Credit Union.
