CLEARLAKE ? Norma Collins screamed “No,” when she was told Thursday night that the search for her son, Mathew Scott, 17, was called off for the night. She urges everyone to be on the lookout for Scott.

He was last seen near Plumas and Lakeshore in the Clearlake Park area.

Collins said she and her developmentally disabled son hadn”t spent anytime in that area. She believes he may have wandered off because he was unfamiliar with the surroundings.

“My instinct tells me that he”s not in the water,” Collins said.

Collins said he was jumping in the water off of a pier for a while with some friends. She said he”s a good swimmer. The beach is located in Oak Cove along Lakeshore Drive. Scott”s family and friends lost sight of him at around 4 p.m.

Lake County Sheriff”s Boat Patrol joined the search. At 4:54 p.m. the search continued. “We are just going to keep searching the shoreline,” Clearlake Police Sgt. Rodd Joseph said. “At this point we have taken a missing person”s report.”

Scott was last seen wearing black and white checkered board-shorts and no shirt. He is described as black, 6-feet 3-inches tall weighing 200 pounds with short dark hair.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Clearlake Police Department at 994-8251
