LAKE COUNTY — Lake County Summer of Peace 2012 opening ceremonies are planned for Friday with the dedication of permanent Peace Marker statuaries at both ends of the lake.
An hour-long ceremony begins at 4 p.m. Friday at Library Park in Lakeport. The ceremony includes presentations by the Military Honor Guard, an opening Pomo prayer, Renaissance and contemporary musical performances by My Divas led by Claudia Listman, Keynote speaker Eugene Tazo, closing prayers and more.
A second ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at Austin Park in Clearlake. It will end in a candlelight peace walk around the park.
The Peace Markers were created by Lake County artists Rolf Kriken and Tom Carter. Peace flags created by Carol Prather will fly in both parks.
