LAKEPORT ?- Law enforcement were actively searching for an attempted murder suspect on Friday night, Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said.

Beginning at about 7:30 p.m. residents were calling reporting sounds of gunfire in the vicinity of Central Park Avenue and Shady Oak Street in Lakeport. Numerous citizens reported hearing the shots. This was followed by reports of a large fight involving about 10 people.

Rasmussen said upon arrival, it was discovered that the fight involved 15 to 20 people.

Raymond Richard Casillas, 22, of Lakeport was arrested after witnesses said he attempted to shoot another subject several times during the fight. The victim reportedly was successful in pushing the firearm away and escaped unharmed. The firearm was located on the 800 block of Central Park. Lake County Sheriff”s Officers (LCSO) arrested Casillas. At about 8:45 p.m., while Casillas was in the patrol vehicle, Dana Rochelle Hueners, 21, of Lakeport, who is now in custody at Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility helped Casillas escape from the LCSO vehicle. She is charged with being an accessory to a felony and assisting in an escape from custody. California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrested the woman and transported her. Two other men were arrested on other charges.

Casillas was still at-large as of press time at about midnight. He is described as an Indian man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, approximately 169 pounds, wearing gray shorts, light-colored shirt and a black hoodie. He has long black ponytail, black hair and brown eyes. He has a bloody lip and is handcuffed behind his back. Casillas is wanted for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, escape from custody and violating parole. Casillas was last seen in the vicinity of 11th Street (north), Sixth Street (south), Highway 29 (west) and N. Forbes Street (east). Officers located the firearm, as well as a loaded, modified rifle, among other associated evidence on the 800 block of Central Park Avenue.

Five Lakeport Police Department vehicles responded, according to Rasmussen, and mutual aid was provided by four CHP and two Lake County Sheriff”s Office units.

Rasmussen advises the public, if Casillas is seen to call 9-1-1 immediately and do not contact or confront him. Any information about the incident should be reported to law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing.
