Which side of the fishbowl?
I am responding to the two letters from Saturday”s edition of the Record-Bee regarding growing marijuana; one from Monae Rosgen and on from Ron Green.
First, I”d like to say Monae”s letter was very thorough. Having experienced some of what she stated personally, as well as other things, that deeply hurt my family as the result of a family member who used marijuana recreationally eventually causing self-ruin, while hurting many others as well.
Secondly, Ron Green may be an attorney, but that does not make him an authority on all he covered. It just depends on which side of the fishbowl you are viewing from to see what is going on.
Yes, people with legitimate medical needs should have access to marijuana to alleviate their pain. However, it is quite obvious that the majority of growers are doing so for their own greed and the needs of mainly recreational users to make an easy buck.
To attack supervisors Brown and Comstock as Mr. Green has done is interesting. These people were elected to do a job and one important issue their voters wanted was to clean up the community of the negative aspects this corrupt crop brings in.
Who is Green trying to fool? If you grow something or do something illegal, you are breaking the law. It”s that simple. The “bad apples” he refers to deserve what they get. Law breakers have to accept responsibility for the decisions they make. That”s the way life is.
People are outraged at people who drive and drink. Then there are those who get high on marijuana and drive. Neither habit creates a competent and safe driver, but there are those who think they are fully competent to do so however they get their high.
Try explaining that to all the people who have suffered or died because some driver was under the influence, all the while thinking they were in complete control of their vehicle.
Those “few bad apples” Green refers to far outnumber the legal grower and they make life uncomfortable for those living nearby. My respect and thanks to supervisors Brown and Comstock, Sheriff Rivero and the deputies who are doing what is needed to protect us, our children, and friends from thoughtless greed growers, who grow only for their own financial benefit.
Lastly, let”s be honest. It is the “greed growers” who are influencing the economy when it comes to marijuana. They are no different than bootleggers. What ever happened to morality? Could it be all those people forgot what morality is because they were too busy getting high and just don”t care?
