LAKEPORT — The Lake and Mendocino County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) will host an open house from 10 to 11:30 a.m. July 18 at its new main office, located at 809 S. Main St. in Lakeport.
The AAA is administered through a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) between both Lake and Mendocino counties. Both counties share responsibility for the governing of the AAA, however one county is identified as lead.
Beginning Sunday, Lake County will be lead in administration. To maximize efficiency of AAA operations and maintain the AAA office in a central location, the office is moving to Lakeport.
As of Sunday, the new AAA director will be Janice Hubbell. She will be stationed in Lakeport with the AAA staff.
In addition, current AAA staff Mike Parkinson will continue with AAA as program coordinator with Deb Wagner in the long-term care ombudsman position.
It is the expectation of the AAA that this move will cause no interruption of service or AAA operations. Both Boards of Supervisors have formally supported this shift in administration and the California State Department on Aging has been notified.
The open house will be attended by AAA staff, advisory council and governing board members.
The new mailing address is PO Box 9000, Lower Lake, CA 95457. The new phone number for the main office is 262-4517 and the ombudsman phone number is 262-4525 or 800-997-3675.
All facilities and residents who fall under long-term care ombudsman oversight are being notified per state regulation.
