LAKE COUNTY — Two men died early Tuesday from injuries sustained when the vehicle they were passengers in struck a tree on Highway 29 north of Diener Drive.
Randy Orange, 53, of Clearlake Oaks was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenneth Waters, 28, of Kelseyville succumbed to his injuries at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Dylan Waters, 26, of Clearlake Oaks was driving a 1999 Chevy Tahoe northbound on Highway 29 around 2:40 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The SUV continued traveling straight until it struck an oak tree.
Dylan Waters suffered minor injuries.
No other vehicles were involved and alcohol did not appear to be a factor, the CHP stated.
