LOWER LAKE — A fire that ignited in the engine compartment of a Chevy Silverado around 3:15 p.m. Thursday quickly spread to nearby vegetation.
About five acres were scorched in the area of Highway 29 and through the hills of Hofacker Lane south of Lower Lake.
Lake County Fire Protection District, CAL FIRE, Southlake County Fire Protection District and Konocti Conservation Camp hand crews responded to the blaze. Suppression of the fire included an aerial attack.
California Highway Patrol and Caltrans assisted with traffic control during the incident.
