PALM SPRINGS — The Convention Center at the La Quinta Resort and Club, a Waldorf Astoria hotel in Palm Springs, was filled to capacity in late June with radio programmers, record labels and music insiders ? all awaiting the keynote address for Michele Clark”s Sunset Sessions.

On June 23, MTV”s Matt Pinfield and singer/songwriter/founder of Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, took the stage and began their presentation with a shout out to the crowd: “Hey, Cheating Daylight is in the house. Did everyone see their show last night? It kicked (expletive). Give it up for Cheating Daylight.”

The award-winning band of teen brothers with members Jesse Crosson 18, Kyle Crosson, 15, and Jaden Crosson, 13, from Vacaville, along with Jacob Gill, 17, and Connor Gill, 13, from Cobb, became part of an exclusive group that includes stars such as Stevie Nicks, Melissa Etheridge and Jason Mraz, to name a few, who are all Sunset Sessions alumni.

The band performed the previous night on the main stage along with Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi, Serj Takian of System of a Down and Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, who were attending the Sunset Sessions to promote the releases their new albums.

Cheating Daylight”s 50-date, “All We Know Tour” continues with a hometown stop in Lakeport on Friday for the Free Summer Concert Series in Library Park, with shows at 6:30 and 7:40 p.m.

The band will also return to Lake County, with a headline performance at the Soper Reese Community Theatre Aug. 25, along with special guests McKenna Faith, Matt Weiss and K-Town. Tickets are available at www.soperreesetheatre.com or www.cheatingdaylight.com

The Cheating Daylight tour combines a high energy live performance with songs from the new album, “All We Know.”

The record is nominated for 2012 Rock Album of the Year at the 22nd annual Los Angeles Music Awards. The long running red carpet award show also announced Cheating Daylight nominations as Rock Artist of the Year and Showcase Artist of the Year, for the event, to be held Nov. 15 at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood.

The rock quintet also joined 40 independent artists from across the country earlier this year at the Indie Music Fest in Las Vegas and were named IMF Indie Artist of the Year, while taking home a prize package valued at more than $45,000.

These nominations come on the heels of an award-winning 2011 campaign, by the band. Cheating Daylight was named the 2011 Power Pop Band of the Year at the 2011 Los Angeles Music Awards, while also receiving nominations for Rock Artist of the Year and Pop Artist of the Year at the All Indie Music Awards. The song, “Photographs Don”t Lie,” was also selected by Rainbo Records to appear on its Best of 2011 compilation CD.
