LAKE COUNTY — Tickets are on sale for the Lake County Theatre Company production of “Congress, You”re Fired!,” which takes place from July 27 to 29 at the Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge and from Aug. 3 to 5 at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center.
Show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays, 5:30 p.m. for Saturday dinner shows and 2 p.m. on Sundays in both Clearlake Oaks and Lakeport.
According to show director Suna Flores, ticket buyers have asked questions about what kind of show it is and why it is at two “different” venues instead of at regular theaters.
Flores said that the show itself is a full-length musical comedy. The theme of the performance is war against peace on a reality television show that has taken over for the U.S. Congress.
According to Flores, those present on the TV set include the handsome game show host, the forceful pro-war general and the beautiful peace representative. “The opposing sides each have a loyal entourage and the antics that frequently take over on reality TV become a hilarious love versus war scenario,” Flores said.
Flores added that the reason the show takes place in different venues is because of its goal to raise money for Meals-On-Wheels. The Lakeport Senior Activity Center and the Clearlake Oaks Moose Lodge have offered performance venues free of charge so that money raised by the shows can be donated straight to Meals-On-Wheels rather than spent on rental.
General seating tickets cost $12 and are available at the Shannon Ridge Tasting Room, 998-9656, the Live Oak Senior Center, 998-1950 and the Moose Lodge, 998-3740, all in Clearlake Oaks; and at Watershed Books, 263-5787, Meals on Wheels Thrift Store, 263-6174 and the Lakeport Senior Activity Center, 263-4218, all in Lakeport.
Dinner show tickets for both Saturday night performances are available at the Moose Lodge and the Lakeport Senior Activity Center at a cost of $20. For more information call 279-2595.
