MADERA — Michael Snider, 17, won the Bay Cities Racing Association (BRCA) Midget Main Event Saturday night at Madera Speedway, during the ninth annual Gerhardt Classic 100-lapper event.
The Kelseyville resident had the lead but fell back several times before reclaiming it for good with less than 10 laps to go.
Snider set the BCRA track record with a qualifying lap time of 13.860 seconds.
After his win and qualifying time, Snider is now the points leader for BCRA Asphalt Midgets. He has a chance to become the youngest BCRA champion ever, with races remaining at Madera, Ukiah and Lakeport speedways.
Snider is set to return to Madera Speedway Sept. 15 for the Harvest Classic.
